About Bentley University

Bentley University was founded in 1917 under the name Bentley School of Accounting and Finance. It was founded by Harry C. Bentley, who served as the school's president until 1953. President Morison relocated the college from Boston's Boylston college to Waltham, Massachusetts. The college was granted accreditation to confer bachelor's degrees in 1971 and graduate degrees in 1973. During this time, the school changed its name to Bentley College. It became a university in 2008. Their motto in Latin is "Paratus," which translates to "Ready" in English. Falcons is its nickname and its colours are blue and white. Flex the Falcon is Bentley University's mascot.

Bentley's campus can be divided into three sections. First, there is the Upper Campus. This location is north of Beaver Street. It contains all classrooms and the majority of academic buildings. The Upper Campus also contains the campus bookstore, a few dorms for upperclassmen, and three dorms for freshmen. Lower Campus describes the second campus. It contains the Dana Athletic Centre, additional dormitories for upperclassmen, and a multipurpose arena. The Lower Campus and Upper Campus are connected by a bridge over Beaver Street. Beaver Street is located to the south of the Lower Campus. North Campus is the name of the third campus. It houses the Residence Halls A, B, C, and D. 2005 saw the opening of residence halls A and B, and 2007 saw the opening of residence halls C and D. The North Campus is located on Forest Street, close to the Upper Campus's main entrance.
