Outside of the classroom, students have access to more than 80 campus clubs, including ten fraternities and sororities. Iona Gaels varsity sports teams compete in the NCAA Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Student-athletes can play club sports or try out for the varsity teams. Gaels are those with Irish-Gaelic ancestry, such as the Christian Brothers Congregation, which founded Iona University in 1940. Alfred Kelly Jr., CEO of Visa Inc., Margaret Timoney, CEO of Heineken USA, Robert Greifeld, former CEO of Nasdaq, and Gregory Cairo, CEO of Le Creuset USA, are notable Iona alumni.

Iona University International Student Admissions
