The Institution of Massachusetts is a public research university in Amherst, Massachusetts, founded in 1863. UMass Amherst was placed 24th in the United States among public universities. The University of Massachusetts Amherst is a prestigious research university with over 28,000 students from more than 85 countries and 49 states. There are more than 100 undergraduate majors, 78 master's degrees, and 48 doctorate programmes offered by the university's ten schools and colleges.
