Established in 1893, American University is a private research university located in Washington, DC. Spread across 90 acres, the university campus is situated in a residential district of the city forming a community of students beyond borders. The university offers pre-college, undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and executive degree and certificate programs across disciplines. Moreover, students have the opportunity to tailor personalized interdisciplinary programs at the bachelor’s level.

The university also offers online courses at bachelor’s and master’s levels. The schools and colleges of the university are the College of Arts & Sciences, Kogod School of Business, School of Communication, School of Education, School of International Service, School of Professional & Extended Studies, School of Public Affairs, and Washington College of Law.
