This major is a great fit for those who love to sing or perform on an instrument. The program offers classes in music theory, music history, conducting, private lessons, large ensembles and chamber music. There are specializations in music education (for those who want to teach music at the pre-college level), music performance and music composition. Students seeking a more flexible degree option – or who want to pursue a double major in music and another field – can choose the BA in Music, which is a liberal arts degree with a major focus in music, or the music minor. A performance audition is required for admission to the music major or minor. Boise State offers many opportunities for students to showcase their talents by joining one of the university choirs, bands, or orchestra, where they can perform on the Morrison Center main stage or on the blue turf by performing with the celebrated Blue Thunder marching band.
