Public health prevents health problems from occurring or reoccurring in a population through education, policy development, advocacy, service and research — differing from clinical professionals such as doctors and nurses, who treat individuals after-the-fact. This critical science demands a multi-disciplinary understanding of public health cores, including community health and prevention, environmental and occupational health, health management and policy, and epidemiology. Students learn from faculty experts, developing their skills across public health, sociology, medicine, health economics, and anthropology, as well as incredible depth in the specific discipline of their choosing.
