Learn how to conserve nature's ecosystems and create a sustainable society. Human consumption of our planet's natural resources is a real problem. Air, water and soil pollution. Habitat degradation. Localized overpopulation. Poverty. The growing demand of our nonrenewable natural resources.
As the world begins to shift toward alternative energy technologies and new conservation strategies, students with Environmental Science degrees are being called on to design, restore and maintain these sustainable systems.
As an Environmental Science degree student at Lewis, you will study the interactions of the biological, chemical and physical processes of the Earth - learning how the complex systems of the planet operate, the relationship between man and nature, and how to design systems that minimize human interference and restore nature's sustainable ecosystems.
Upon graduation, you will be ready to hit the ground running in a career as an Environmental Scientist within local and state conservation or environmental protection agencies, performing investigations in conservation biology, forestry, fisheries and atmospheric sciences. Plus, many of our students develop a passion for an advanced degree in geographic information systems (GIS), ecology, conservation biology, natural resource management, environmental biology or foresty, and move on to graduate school straight after Lewis.
