Mechanical engineers use theoretical, experimental, and computational skills to design, manufacture, test, and maintain thermal, fluid, and mechanical machines. Mechanical engineering students master the fundamental principles of mathematics, chemistry, and physics as a foundation for study in the three core areas of mechanical engineering: solid mechanics and materials, thermal and fluid, dynamics and controls.
