Study the basic building blocks of a career in veterinary medicine—biology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, and animal science. From the first semester, students in the pre-veterinary science program at UMass Amherst work directly with goats, sheep, poultry, horses, beef and dairy cattle, and laboratory animals. Discovery-based tutorial research classes help hone students' understanding of the science behind veterinary care, while the many internship opportunities prepare students for their future careers in the field. Students work with academic advisors to stay on track for future applications to graduate school or work in research labs, industrial, government, or academic settings.
